This 1957 Royal Barry Wills farmhouse kitchen was completely renovated and updated for the 21st century. The floor’s reclaimed wood came from a 200-year-old tobacco barn and the millwork from old barn beams of reclaimed butternut. Amply scaled, custom marble sinks form the room’s nucleus, a hub where family and guests gather for appetizers and cocktails as the meal is prepared. The custom, wrought-iron hardware is a scaled-down reproduction of a barn latch. Resourceful hinge straps on the refrigerator and freezer open to a bulletin board. A custom hood and backsplash of metal submerged in acid has a lovely patina. An antique table with an overall height of 30 inches is ergonomically correct, which allows for easy preparation. The sepia-tinted, antique delft tiles date back to the 18th century.
