Classically Inspired Kitchen, Bathrooms, Butler’s Pantries, and Dressing Rooms for Today’s Interiors

Brian J. McCarthy‘s book signing of Luminous Interiors recently was a testament to his work.  The event took place at the Beauvais showroom located at 57th and Lexington in New York City with an approximate attendance of 500 people.

I don’t think I have ever attended a book party where the line was at least a 45 minute wait for a signed copy.  It was sure worth it and so much fun!  There were so many familiar faces that one did not even notice the wait.  Michael Whaley, a fine Interior Designer in Fairfield County, Connecticut, Jim Remez, president and owner of Livingston Builders in Palm Beach and New York, Gerard Beekman, Architect of Livingston Builders, Richard Sammons, Architect with Fairfax and Sammons in Palm Beach and New York, were some of the people I was happy to pass the time with.  It was so nice to also meet some of Brian’s good friends who vacation in Dorset, Vermont, where my husband Charles and I always travel for a bit of R and R.  We look forward to spending time there with Brian, his friend Carolyn from Palm Beach, and his dog Daisy.  A long walk in the hollow is quality time for anyone.

I first met Brian in 2004 while working on a project in Manhattan.  The architectural firm Fairfax and Sammons, as well as Brian, brought together a stunning apartment where I was hired for the kitchen, scullery, and breakfast room.  Brian, a protégé of the late Albert Hadley, was hired as Bunny Williams’s assistant when she was still a designer at Parish Hadley.

This book is a must-have for any design library collection.  It showcases the credibility of a sensational designer who we know is one of the greats of our generation.  Classical language and attention to detail resonates through each page of Luminous Interiors.
